Delivering the real deal …
One of the key values that my dad instilled in me at a very young age and throughout life was the importance of serving others. In serving others, we have a chance to really help make a difference in people’s lives and in the world. Remember that movie “Pay It Forward with Helen Hunt and Kevin Spacey”? You know, the one where Spacey is a teacher who gives his students an assignment to make the world a better place. Haley Joel Osment is the student that comes up with a plan around “pay it forward acts of kindness” that ultimately has a profound effect on people performing human kindness across the globe. Great movie! If you’ve never seen it – Netflix it! Anyways, I worry sometimes that it’s lost in today’s culture that promotes much of the me, me, me syndrome.
This got me thinking about when I was working at another GPS company a couple of years ago. I remember speaking with some Buy Here Pay Here dealers in North Carolina – you know, trying to get them to purchase our product. What I found intriguing was their unyielding loyalty to STARS GPS. I didn’t really know who STARS was at that time, but I remember asking a couple of them why they would pass up on such a great promotional offer. You know what they told me? It was because of the service they get with STARS. In the end, the STARS team understood their customers and how to service their needs. That enabled STARS to continuously delivered on its promise. What was really cool about this was that these customers were not only STARS fans, they would do just about anything for STARS too – it was the real deal!
So when the company that I worked for was sold off to one of those big GPS firms, I really had to think about what I wanted to do. I knew I didn’t want to lose that personal connection with my customers and that’s what would happen if I didn’t make a change. That’s when it came to me.
I’m now an investor and one of the new enthusiastic partners of STARS GPS. And we are on a mission to not only deliver the best GPS technology and tools in the market, but to also expand and extend that same exceptional service STARS delivered in North Carolina all these years, now coast-to-coast. Our strategy is to grow big, but our mantra is and always will be “customers comes first”. That’s why I’m training all our sales people personally. I’m fostering a strong service-oriented culture here. A team of people who are ready to help you help others repair their credit and achieve the American Dream. It’s what I’ve been in training for all my life thanks to my dad!
